Colloque DESS: The capability approach as a bridging framework in health promotion: theoretical considerations and empirical insights

Stimuler la réflexion, s’ouvrir à de nouvelles perspectives, suivre l’actualité des recherches, des pratiques et des initiatives en santé publique, débattre; autant de fonctions remplies par les colloques du Département épidémiologie et systèmes de santé (DESS). A chaque session, des spécialistes d’horizons divers viennent présenter l’état de leurs recherches, leurs expériences ou leurs projets.

Ces colloques sont ouverts au publics. Ils s’adressentaux professionnel·le·s de la santé et sont notamment recommandés par la Société suisse des spécialistes en prévention et santé publique (SPHD) pour la reconnaissance de la formation continue.

Thème du jour: The capability approach as a bridging framework in health promotion: theoretical considerations and empirical insights

Health promotion research cannot be rooted in one specific discipline or one setting only but should span across various research paradigms and different settings of health promotion interventions.

It also has been convincingly argued that health promotion needs grounding in well-founded structural-level frameworks. This seminar will introduce the seminal capability approach by Nussbaum and Sen that asks for individual wellbeing within societal contexts as a bridging framework for inter- and transdisciplinary research across health promotion settings and disciplines.

Empirical examples from research projects will highlight how to foster cooperation and conceptual alignment between academic disciplines and sub-disciplines as well as challenges in the application of a bridging transdisciplinary framework.
